New 'Sports, Cultures and Ethics' certificate enhances student opportunities

"When ASU President Michael Crow signaled to the university community with the launch of the Global Sport Institute in 2017 that sport matters, faculty whose academic curricula explore the topic took heart.

“We felt emboldened that our work was indeed legitimate and intellectually sophisticated, and we began to make connections across ASU to find others like us who study and write about sport and society,” said School of Historical, Philosophical, and Religious Studies Lecturer Victoria Jackson."

ASU looking to fund startup projects that will change the world through sports

"Sports and social issues are inextricably linked, and now Arizona State University is looking for innovative ways that people can harness sports to actually drive social change.

The Global Sport Institute at ASU has launched a new $10,000 competition for ideas that improve communities through sports. The Global Sport Social Impact Challenge will reward people who come up with inventive concepts, such as bringing a sport to an area that doesn’t have it or repurposing a facility to offer sports."

These are just a few topics being explored across different disciplines by Arizona State University's Global Sports Institute. The research hub was launched at ASU in 2017 as part of the school's partnership with Adidas."
